Rodney Smith aka Roots Manuva has been dubbed by The Independent as ‘the Doyen of British Rap’. Not only taking the UK hip-hop scene by storm, Roots is now also challenging American artists. Known for his socio-political lyrics and fearless writing, he is a supreme MC and one of the most compelling lyricists in the last two decades of British music, nominated for the prestigious MOBO Award for Best Hip Hop Act and Mercury Prize nomination for ‘Run Come Save Me’ in 2001. Mixing infectiously danceable hip hop, dub and electronica with reggae and gospel, his fascination with and love of soundsystem culture informs not just his music and lyrics but his whole attitude towards life and goes some way to explain his popularity both as an artist and an individual. Currently working on a new album, his sound is as fresh and fired up as ever in 2011. http://www.rootsmanuva.co.uk/rootsmanuva/ http://www.myspace.com/rootsmanuva

Kanda Bongo Man returns to Fiesta! From the Congo returns the king of the highly infectious guitar-led soukous music, Kanda Bongo Man!! The man who single-handedly gave the world the infectious Kwasa Kwasa dance, Kanda is one of the most well known stars of world music, and one of the first pioneers of Soukous music.  A regular at Womad, Glastonbury and international world music festivals, Kanda is a leading ambassador of African popular culture, and has toured the globe attracting huge audiences across five continents. He has recorded with Ringo Starr, with master guitarist Diblo Dibala, he has appeared on Jools Holland ‘Later …’ and was reputedly a favourite of John Peel. More recently he headlined at the Africa Calling event at the Eden Project, was invited to Kisumu in Kenya to celebrate Obama’s inauguration with the president’s grandmother, and wowed the crowds on the Radio 3 stage in WOMAD 2010. Kanda and his band and dancers delighted the crowd at last year’s first ever Fiesta – so we are delighted to invite him back! Expect a spectacular show and bring your dancing shoes! http://www.myspace.com/kandabongoman

Brassroots Festival stars Brassroots are an energetic 8 piece horn and percussion ensemble of musicians from a myriad of different countries and backgrounds including England, Israel, France, Greece and America. Brassroots keep the crowds dancing with their unique high energy act, bringing a contemporary big band instrumental sound to legendary tracks in spectacular brass band style! The group has already unleashed knock-out shows to sold out audiences at festivals all over the UK including Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Festibelly and a chop bustin’ 7 shows Bestival, and have a busy Summer ahead of them. Brassroots are blazing a shiny brass trail earning plenty of radio play and are poised to bring a brand new energy to Fiesta this Summer! http://www.myspace.com/brassroots

Carnival Collective – breakbeat inflected Funk, Hip-Hop, Ska, Reggae and Live Drum & Bass grooves aimed squarely at keeping you on the dance floor. 25 piece percussion section based on a Brazilian Samba ‘batteria’, and scorching 9 piece horn section. Carnival Collective have forged an awesome live reputation and are a regular feature at Glastonbury Festival every year – where their spirited performances haven’t gone unnoticed by the media. http://www.myspace.com/carnivalcollective
